I was a patient of this Dr for many years we always got along and had a good repor. Now something suddenly changed. He abruptly stopped my pain meds and refused to treat me anymore. I followed all the drug testing signed pain agreements ect. Never had an issue. I come into his office one day and says he's cutting me off my pain meds. That he needs to treat other patients. Can't prescribe me pain meds anymore or he will lose his licence. Something happened. He got red flagged by the DEA or something. He abruptly told me how ... read more

There must not be any communication between Dr. Afzal and Unity Point neurosurgery since he recommended surgery and neurosurgery has told me for nearly 2 years surgery is not recommended. When I told him I was "confused" about the conflicting recommendations, he appeared irritated. I had to ask questions about the procedure he was recommending instead of him professionally and voluntarily explaining it to me. I do not plan on returning to his office.

Dr. Afzal is the most caring doctor! I am so grateful for him. He takes care of the pain I have in my back and he took care of my mother for years and gave her many years of relief from pain. He is the best in the area!

Dr. Afzal is a direct yet personable physician. He takes the time to inform you on procedures and clarifies any questions you may have. His skill set is masterful, I've gone to him for pain management procedures now 3 times and each time he has impressed. Thank You Dr. AFZAL!

I've been seeing Dr. Afzal since 2018. I am so thankful I found him. He diagnosed me immediately after 11 years of my being misdiagnosed including at places such as Mayo and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He's by FAR one of the very best doctors I've ever had. I would still be experiencing extreme pain and suffering had I not found him. 5+++/5 rating!!! 😀
